Part 1: Woodland Paths, Memorial Garden, Compost and Potatoes...Oh my
Remember to put your mouse over the pics for more info :) We have about 1/8 of an acre of fir, spruce and scrubby woods in our back garden. This year I wanted to make use of it yet at the same time keep the woodland feel. Our trees are very spindly so the majority of my time I spent with my Fiscars lopers and some hand pruners thinning out trees making room for others to grow. The paths just took on a life of their own, I had no real plan just shape and trim keeping the nicest trees ...
Part 2: Whats Blooming in June
Our front garden consists of everything from daylilies, columbine, mallow, sedums, phlox, cutleaf forsythia, lilacs, double white roses, john cabot rose, heathers, geraniums, bleeding hearts, dianthus, lady slippers, wild blueberries, rock cress, rock rose, spirea, chives, iris and more… Out back there are more berries and bulbs:
Part 3: Harvesting a few veggies
The garden was not as successful as I would have liked this year. My spinach bolted due to an early heat wave, my corn was stunted for some reason but I may still get a few small cobs. We are working on a big garden for next year and I will post the pics soon. Carrots have been quite nice, with a few strange ones, but I always like the unique carrots, I have a few nice turnips, some papaya pear squash and nice lettuce.
