I am now 65 and have lived on this 10A. home site for since 1970. My mom and dad were both gardeners and had lived in Portland, Or. for 40 years before coming to live with my husband and I just after we married. So I have come full circle, now I am here 40 years.

My father used to say, "A garden is never finished, only the gardener dies." The yard I maintain is full of cottage style borders, English roses, small shrubs and a stand of 40 year old firs that now act as sentinals over the yard.

The flowers and the trees have changed many times over the years as the firs grew to new heights changing the sun and air flow. I have amended the ground so much I keep thinking I should not have to bend over as far.

Seasons come and seasons go, some are better then others. As I grow older I tune into my father's spirit and can only hope that one of my daughters someday can hear and feel my own on this land. Only a gardener or a farmer can understand that connection to the land.

When the weather is just too miserable to be in the yard I am also an artist. I use pastel chalk which say is like using dirt on paper. I will post a couple of my flower pictures. I do animals, people and landcapes.

We have two grown daughters, and a grandbaby on the way. I have gone to the same church for almost 40 years, and have a very fat horse that does not get ridden much because the garden is the first priority. He does not care.

We also have two spoiled dogs, one Basset Hound, Louie and one German Shorthair, Pearl. Each the extreme opposite of the other. Quite the pair.

That's about it. We live a simple life, are self employed, repairing farm equipment and heavy trucks. Have no worries, no bills, and no money, but hey, we have each other.

Welcome to Garden Tenders! I look forward to reading more about your gardening adventures and I would like to see some of your chalk drawings, too.

Hi Weedwacker, welcome to GardenTenders. Your gardens sound very established….....looking forward to seeing some pictures. Yes, and some of your artwork as well.

Hello Margaret. I am an early riser because my free time tends to be when everyone else is still asleep. Have you had any success figuring out how to post photos onto the GT site?

Hey Robin. The sun finally came to the NW and I have been outside in the real garden. Plus the sister-in-law is in her last days and most likely hours in this life so the family is in turmoil. That being said I think I can get this figured out and if I can’t I will ask for a little more aid. I have never been in a forum before but my daughters being way more computer saavy then their mom talk about them all the time. They all have a monitor and I am guessing you may be the monitor for this site. The go to person. I did not know these sites were so fancy. I like being able to talk to people all around the globe that have the same interest
it is like joining a new community.

If the sun finally came out, the best place for you was in the real garden. GT can wait. I am not the monitor, Michal is. Everyone was so warm and welcoming when I joined almost a year ago, I just like to pass the friendliness forward.

welcome to GT. I am already inspired – not only as a gardener but as a human being. Thank you.

Nice profile, I agree a good partner is all you really need in life, I love your artwork and am envious of your 10a as I live in suburbia. Mine and my wifes dream is to own some land and grow as many different types of plants as possible. Welcome to GT and keep posting that artwork.
