Yesterday was a bad day…no a really bad day…no a really rotten stinkin bad day! I had some lousy news in the morning. I went to work anyway…couldn’t really concentrate much on what I was doing so went home. Moped around the house a bit, ended up in the garden. My daughter had replenished some of the moss garden yesterday while we were working outside together. I figured I’d water it, I’ve always found watering somewhat therapeutic…great thinking time.
As I was watering a ruby throated hummingbird flew over into the edge of the spray of the hose and sat on the top of the rocks. He sat there for a minute or so flapping his wings and cleaning and drinking. He then flew up into the branches of the dogwood and preened, came back down and did it all again, this time on steroids. He paid no attention to me 7 ft away waving the hose around. He seemed to like it moving. He was jumping around and getting sprayed from all different angles. Picture a hummingbird in one of those ipod commercials with the silhouette dancers. He had moves like that. Left me smiling from ear to ear. There really can be messages in the smallest of things. Keep smilin…:)

I know what you mean, Bob. Yesterday was a really bad day for me, pain-level wise. I hurt so badly I had no energy at all. Then I saw our first goldfinch of the season in our window feeder. I still hurt, I still had no energy, but I quit feeling quite so sorry for myself!

Must be the week for bad whatever!
And the week for the smallest thing to make you smile!
Well, I do believe that things will get better! To many small things happening, for me was on Mother’s Day and “my special bird”!

Thanks for the story Bob … truly warmed my heart. I truly believe that God sometimes uses the littlest things to change our focus and give us hope. I pray that whatever you are dealing with will get better.
