they are careful they dont introduce e/in/vasive plants
seed swaps…............do your homework before you bring seeds home because we all know that the road to garden hell was full of good intentions

greenthumb did you bother to read our disclaimer or did you judge the site as fast as your could and leave. maybe you should try doing your homework before you judge others…...and their site they have worked very hard on. what have you done for the community lately that you put a year into building, programming and designing, to help others and asked nothing in return? Maybe you would like to help me out with the $49 dollar VPS costs every month to give gardeners a place to trade seeds instead of just making “rude”, “hurtful” comments. maybe I would have 537 posts here if I was not busy building this site.

Maybe you should review your advertising practices as the current ones go against good practice and are more damaging to the name of your company, or the one you represent, than helpful.
If you would like to explore a good, targeted advertising medium, I would highly recommend looking into Google Adwords.
http://adwords.google.com
If you can not afford a few hundred dollars a month in advertising costs, I would recommend the word of mouth, or “signature” method of advertising, which is less invasive and often not considered spammy.
However, to come to a site and within your first 3 posts spout off about a new website, however good the intentions or site are, will end in being considered spam and will cause damage to your companies reputation.
Also, registering with the sites name as your user name is another thing that should not be done.
This is coming from someone who’s busy every day building sites for a multi-million dollar business, mind you, so take no offense.

What new website are you talking about? Mine it has been up since Jan of this year? Is this not a gardening website? Do people not trade seeds here? Wow! Am I missing something. Maybe you should look up the definition of spam my friend. What part of not wanting to make money can’t you understand or do you have multi-million dollar websites on the brain or something? What part of I am not a company don’t you understand? I know what ad-words is I have been building websites for 10 years. I’m not interested in advertising, I am not interested in making money off of other gardens. Damage my companies “reputation” give me a break, I don’t even have a company.. I build a website to help gardeners trade their seeds. You try to build and create something now a days that will help others out. Nice to see what this world is coming to… or at least some of these commenters. Why don’t some of you trying posting something nice like “good luck with this” or “hope you help others out” geez think I am being an idiot oh well think what you will because some of you are no better. Like I am the only one that has every posted a link to their site.

Well, then it’s all clear as a bell.
I see no point in furthering this fracas.
“Good luck” with your “non corporate” site, if even your methods of promoting it and concept of spam are skewed.

Seed_Swaps,
I am wondering if you have taken the time to look over this site?
All the things people ARE doing quietly without spouting about “what good they are doing for free”!
You came here trying to bulldoze your way in! It would have been a lot friendlier to explain all and why!
This site is about family and friends! Our gardens, our hopes and aspirations as gardeners and people!
We cherish each others, we help and support each others!
We are a big family that accept new members with open arms without question!
And we do “defend” it because we want to keep it as is!!!!
Good luck with your site! I, for one, will not even go see it as your comments on both threads here are, from my point of view, very offensive!

Seed_swaps says”....
”What part of I am not a company don’t you understand? I”
Then I read his terms and conditions and he says:...
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless SeedSwaps, its affiliates, and their officers, directors, employees and representatives from any penalties, claims or liabilities, including attorneys’ fees, arising from your use of this service. This expressly includes your responsibility for any and all liability arising from the violation or infringement of proprietary rights or copyrights and any libelous or unlawful material contained within your areas of content. Contents on this site are copyrighted by SeedSwaps. Unauthorized distribution or reproduction is forbidden. Information on this site is provided for your own personal use and may be copied, printed or saved for private, non-commercial use.
Who are the directors ,the employees and etc if you are not a COMPANY?
Buddy, you are going to have to fish or cut bait.
Your legalese seems a bit tainted.
Now go ahead, bullshit me that this is just a standard “internet clause”.

Here is some bullshit for you Bob.. when you write a disclaimer you are SUPPOSE to cover all the basis whether your a company or social networking site. That’s why it is a disclaimer. No one may ever trade illegal seeds either doesn’t mean I am not going to put it in there in case. If someday Seed Swaps became a company I would need to have all the basis covered even though I have no intension to do so. If you weren’t so full of bullshit yourself you would know that and go talk to a lawyer before you spread your bullshit “buddy”.
Talk about about bulldozing as fast as I could sign up I have the “league of pals” bulldozing me out for posting a link like so many others on here. (replace bulldozing with bullshitting unless your Eklectic and don’t want to get offended by “bob’s” language )
GrandmaT do you have mind of your own or do you just make little ignorant comments for your “friends”, you need to get out more. How could anyone take you seriously you have nothing to add other then egging everyone on and cause more trouble.
Eklectic - What your not offended by “Bob use of the word” Bullshitting? It’s your friends egging me on and swearing at me now eh. I was willing to let bygones be bygones and forget this comment thread till “Bob” posted his BS. Thank you for wishing me luck with my site after criticizing me for the first half of your post.
You people are all my hero’s instead of just checking the site out and seeing what it was about you would just rather make 20 post crapping on my link. You all Rock.
Now for the best part of all of this is why don’t all of you go read the rules for this site. Well come on here is a link for you…http://gardentenders.com/about/rules where does it say I can’t post a link to a free site in my Blog? Where? All I see is you can’t post your Business? My post is a free no-profit gardening website from a gardening website. How is that off topic anyway Scott? Where is the rule I have broken, here in my blog anyway, since your all so smart? Nice to see you are all the Garden Tenders blackwater police come out in full force to crap/harass on someone for posting a free link. So since your dictators here how many posts do I have to make before I post a link 2? 5? 20? 1,000,000? How many posts do I have to make after I post a link 2? 5? 20? 1,000,000?. Who butt do I have to kiss anyway? Are you all fortune tellers because you all have foretold I had every intention of never coming back even though I liked the site. Maybe instead of being rude to me 5 sec after I posted my link you could have waited a couple of weeks to see if I would make more posts or ask me a polite question about the site. Now I wouldn’t even bother because your all going to think I am doing it just to make the rude comments here happy. I at this point I could care less what any of you think of me. If I acted like some of the commenter here have acted toward to me on this site, on my site I would be ashamed of myself. I have been civil, courteous and respectful as anyone has been to me here. Anyone else that posts a rude comment will get a private message from me because debates are not beneficial to the site. You get what you give.

I generally do not respond to threads like these as they only continue up the line and get fueled further. However, please read the posting rules for this forum.
Specifically these:
Be civil, courteous and respectful to all.
Don’t get personal. A good general rule to follow is, “criticize ideas, not people”.
We do not tolerate abusive, malicious, personal attacks.
Postings deemed to be Spam will be removed.
SeedSwaps, why don’t you start over on friendlier terms, tell us about why you enjoy gardening and trading seeds and maybe the members here will warm up to you. The posts you have made have come across negative, maybe it’s because you feel the need to defend yourself, but for whatever reason there is no need for any of this.
You surely can post a link and seed trading is a part of gardening and many here may also enjoy the site you have created it is just a little hard to swallow when a new person jumps in on others discussions without explanation and simply post a description and site link.
So link your website on your profile page (This is permitted and even suggested) and even in your signature line, then introduce yourself, chat about your garden and gardening experiences and welcome aboard.

Xploreorganics – Thank you I appreciate you not attacking me like some other members here. Your right I would enjoy using this site and posting my tulip pictures. It’s nice to see someone here can disagree without making rude/hurtful comments. Thanks for your comment and respect.

I don’t ever recall saying that the link was off topic. I said it was spammy in delivery. At any rate I’ve moved on to more productive discussions as I said there was no point in furthering this one.
If you wish to PM me, that is fine. I will gladly give you my reasons, in detail as to why I consider it spam.
I’d also been all over your site in great detail to look over it. Actually it’s a rather interesting site with a good concept.
At any rate, I need to put the little one to bed, so I’ll be on my way.

Seed Swap …
We have a very special site here that, that we do tend to protect.
From where I sit, you joined GT, did not bother to fill out any of the profile. You gave no introduction. Your only immediate interest, from what I could see, was in “promoting” or “selling us” on your website.
Personally, I think had you been interested in our site as a person/gardener than you would have joined, told us a little bit about yourself; the zone you garden in, how you got into gardening … shared some of your garden photos with us; look to become part of the “crowd” and partake in our discussions. As “XO” said, you could have listed your website address on your profile … and let us check it out, if we were interested.
As MsDeb said on your profile page … it comes down to “site etiquette”. If you want to be here as a fellow gardener than you are most welcome, share your knowledge and joy of gardening with us … but if you want nothing more than to let us know you have a “seed swapping” site, than you need to contact our advertising personnel.
Ball is in your court.
