I'm a 50-something married gentleman, avid woodworker and gardener. I have had an interest in open-pollenated vegetable species since 1984, and have been standing behind the same Troybuilt pony every spring since then. I have taken the Master Gardener Program from the Kansas Cooperative Extension Service (Shawnee County). I feed the soil and the soil feeds my plants. The vegetable garden is 100% organic.

My wife is the Floral specialist with insane indoor Orchid skills, a great floral press and a solid cutting garden. We always have some arrangement of flowers and foliage in the kitchen. I am blessed by my good fortune in the home, the shop and out standing in my field (albeit a very small field).

Hi Douglas!
I can’t wait to learn some gardening strategies from you.

This is exciting.
My little garden just doesn’t know what is about to hit it :D

Woodworking and gardening, my two favorite pass times. Would love to see pictures of the orchids.

Ron, I forwarded your request to my wife, in a shameless ploy to get her signed on here. Let’s see what happens. Otherwise I’ll purloin some shots. I think there are some Phalaenopsis (or are they Dendrobia?) blooming now. This really is her specialty. I wouldn’t expect her to single out a rabbet from a dado, although she has picked up a fair amount of wood lore in the course of our marriage.
