Hi. Nancy here. I have well established perennial gardens around a century home on top of a hill. I must constantly search for hardy, drought resistant plants as we are on well water. I also am looking for perennials which bloom late summer to late fall. Many plants in my gardens bloom in spring & summer. Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of time to devote to care for these gardens therefore I need very hardy varieties. I live in Zone 5 with southern protected areas which can sometimes accomodate Zone 4. Looking forward to spring as I will have a new area to garden slightly north of here.

Hi Nancy … welcome to GT!!!

I stumbled upon a great catalog for xeric plants (drought/waterwise plants). It is called High Country Gardens. They also have a wonderful site too. It was amazing what I learned just “thumbing” through the catalog.

Anyway, look forward to seeing your gardens and chatting about gardening! :-)

Thanks Grandma T the catalogue sounds interesting. Does it have a web site. I’m not very good on the computer yet.

Hi Damocles. Have only driven through Detroit once in my life. Don’t know much about this city except for GM.
You must be close to my Zones for your gardens. Are you in town or country?

Yes, they do have a website …
http://www.highcountrygardens.com/

Click above and it will take you right to their site. You can also request a free catalog from their site too.

Hi Nancy, here is another catalog that I have ordered from over the years. One of my fav’s … Plants have arrived healthy and adapted well to my gardens (but again, not endorsing). Their free catalog and site is full of great pics, description and general information. Good basic resource tool …

Geez Nancy, I did not realize there would be a difference with you living in Canada with regards to a free catalog. That is a bit upsetting … :-( Well, hope I helped ya a bit anyway …

Today is obviously not a GT chat day with all the snow you and most folks got … do be careful as you remove/rearrange all that “white stuff”. Any takers for a nice cup of hot chocolate???!!!!
