Our Gazebo #2: Two Walls

Blog entry by MsDebbieP posted 368 days ago 297 reads 0 times favorited 15 comments Add to Favorites
« Part 1: The beginnings Part 2 of Our Gazebo series Part 3: Final Walls »

Last weekend Rick and I transformed the north wall on our gazebo.

We put three windows on the top half of the wall and left the bottom half solid. The idea for next year is to take the area out above the windows and put screen in them, with a drop-down shutter to cover them for the cold/rainy weather.

This past weekend we did the west wall. Same process and same plans for the future.

We now have half walls and half tarps (oh and we put another tarp over the roof to temporarily cover the hole).
When seated we have a perfect view of the outdoors and watching the trees bloom in the spring should be lovely from inside the cozy space.

Inside it is less windy than before (there are still gaps around the tarps and small holes in the roof). Once we find enough windows and a door for each of the remaining walls we will move on to the next step.

(MOT: pictures will come once we get some warm sunshine).

Great job Debbie. I’m looking forward to see the photos. I want to build a complete gazebo near our cottage next year so I need lot of inspiration.

still at 2 walls. They aren’t anything special yet: just some 2×4s and plywood around a few windows (kinda) haha
We were sitting out in it on the weekend and there sure were a lot of gaps—I should have measured 3 times instead of twice. but the walls are there and the old tarps are blocking the wind from the other two sides. We should be able to stay relatively warm now when we have our next bonfire breakfast.

well, I made it outside today during our winter storm (been snowing all day) and this is the condition of my gazebo:

the tarps have been blown around and the chairs blown over and the inside covered with snow..

Guess you won’t be having cocoa in there for a while! Or, do you plan on more weatherproofing for wintertime activities?

Yah, it has been snowing here for a couple of days now (looks like about 9 inches now with maybe a few more before it’s done) ... mostly today. Sorry to see that the snow got inside … maybe when it finally quits snowing you can sweep it out a bit and resecure your tarps and still have your bonfire breakfasts and cocoa … at least that is my wish for ya!

hopefully will have one soon. We should be able tack the tarps to the corners and then with a heater inside it should hopefully be quite warm.
We might have to cook with electric grills but we’ll be fine.. it’s getting together that makes it wonderful

Rowan is 5. Her birthday and her great-grandmother’s is the same day.

Ice fishing – never thought of that! We should have fish at our next breakfast!! Great idea.

the birthday thing is really cool
My dad’s birthday was on a 24 and both of my children are on a 24.

My Mom’s is 13
My daughter-in-law’s is 13
and my granddaughter is 13.

And for her birth: Rowan was due the first of the week and I said – oh just hold on until the 13th…
At 10:00 the night before, we get the call …. they are at the hospital… hang on little one.. hang on for a couple more hours. She did…. and we got our 13/13/13.
