Monday was a “road trip” and I came home with this little guy (amongst other things).
I also had to move my iron gates (for the fourth time)! The neighbour’s dog, no – not Gabby, our other neighbour who has a little pup, has decided that our pond is his favourite swimming hole. So, about every other day I hear splash splash splash and find him swimming across the pond. He rips up the plants, knocks over the fountain, scares the fish, and pushes/pulls the rocks into the water. He is in and out really fast because he knows he is going to be in trouble.. since the neighbours are usually calling his name as he’s running /swimming.

So I’ve decided to try putting the fence around the pond. It doesn’t go all the way around and I’m pretty sure he could squeeze through the holes if he wants to but maybe, just maybe it will be enough of a barrier that he’ll stop jumping in.
Hopefully, it won’t trap him IN the pool and he can still get out….

Oh, I really like your newest addition to the pond!!!! How fun are your road trips!!!!
How frustrating with that puppy; and what makes it worse is the little guy certainly means you no harm … he is just out for a little fun. Too bad at your expense though. Have your neighbors heard of the “invisible fence” or a long leash or even a fenced-in play area for the pup?!! I sure hope the gate works for you. (It does look nice there.) You have put so much work and love into your pond and surrounding area.
I love the gate pic … really see how lush your pond area is. Beautiful spot Deb!!!

Ms Debbie
I love your new addition to your pond
I really love things like this
I don’t have a pond but I would love a little one
I do have many things throughout the gardens. Fairies, angels, boys and girls, kittens frogs, turtles, dragon flies and of course buterflies
I want just a very small pond with no fish about the size of where your new little boy is sitting. But I have no idea how to set one up
I really love your fence. actually it all looks so attractive

The pond looks good. I, too, like your fence. It looks like it has been there for years. Well done.
Too bad about the pup. We had a chap in our neighbourhood several doors down who let their Jack Russell out every day. She was into our pond all the time, to drink or whatever. One day, she got into my water cactus though, and that was the end of that. Too many prickles in that water. LOL Unfortunately the cactus died, but the main problem was solved.

hmmm water cactus hahaha
if he ever puts a hole in the pond liner—then I’ll be upset! Now, it’s just a nuisance. He’s a pup… and the pond is a water source. All natural behaviours.
The neighbour is more upset than I am, I think. They said that once the pup is a little older there will be an invisible fence. For now, they are training it to stay close—which it does, except for the quick dip in the pond! lol :)
Road trips: oh yah, they are FUN FUN FUN!!!
Bunting: why don’t you get one of those barrel type ponds? I think they are pretty easy and you don’t have to dig a hole etc.
Glad you enjoyed the pictures :)

Love your little boy fishing.Nice addition MsD.The pond is looking really good. The fence looks good there too.I think we all must have a neighbour with a dog on the loose. (lol) I have this problem too with my border garden.I”m thinking maybe a row of lilac trees might help keep it out.(lol)

ha “or not” :)
but it’s worth a try!
so far: no swimmers in my pond so between my additions and the neighbour’s dog-training efforts, something is making a difference

pup was over today… right through the hole in the fence. We had to move the fence, though, to let him out.
Not sure if he wasn’t getting out because we were there yelling at it to get out.. or if he “couldn’t” because of the fence.
argh

Oh dear … I am feeling for ya MsDeb. Maybe you are just gonna have to talk with the neighbors to come up with a better (immediate) solution. I know you are frustrated (I sure would be). :-(

Patience of a saint, you have … I’m not so sure I would be as patient nor calm; but maybe I would looking at that puppy’s adorable face (I am a pushover with puppies.). Guess sometimes all you can do is shake your head … hang in there Deb …

Thats a lovely pond.
My dogs drink out of mine but the lab loves to go for a splash in the FIL’s pond, generally knocking over the plants. Now the dog has “mites” which cost, so far, about 300 bucks and rising.
never a dull moment here
