The other day Rick and I went to London to buy some things at Lee Valley and Busy Bee. While we were in the area we went a little further and stopped by Canadale Nursery.

We had been talking about adding some more fruit trees to the property and so we went and had a look. Their fruit trees were on for “3 for $99” so we bought three.

We bought:

The apple tree had two wee little apples on them. I had to try them. Oh yes… very yummy! Going to make great pies.

That sounds like a good deal, dependent upon the size. I don’t believe that I’ve ever had a Sunrise Apple. Does its taste resemble more of a spy or a mac? There were some interesting comments from omafra. There comments suggest to me that it may be suitable as an eating apple as well as cooking.

When I was young, we used to have a plum tree. Actually, it was rooted at our neighbour’s place, but it leaned and grew onto our side of the fence, so we got the fruit. Bonus !

taste.. well, i’m not sure if the little apple was fully ripe but it was almost a granny smith flavour.
The one site I read said it is a “Delicious” (which I don’t like) but these are tart. I like tart!!
It did say a “short shelf life” so that will be fine for making apple pie filling with.

Plum tree. I guess we had plums on the farm growing up – we had everything I think. But I don’t remember eating them. Rick had plum trees on his property and he misses them and so – we now have 2 trees.

Love your story :)
