Oh how excited I was to see my little visitor had returned this year. Actually, it’s not the same one as last year because it appears to be about half the size. But, at least I’ve been blessed with a sighting. Once again I saw him in the white flox by the basketball net.
I had never seen these before in my life!! What an experience it was last year as I saw it, analyzed it, and researched it.
The Hummingbird Moth

I first blogged about this a few months ago: http://gardentenders.com/members/MsDebbieP/blog/128

They are a blast.
Around here, we seem to have more of them then the real hummers. At a glance, they look like the bird, so you have to look closely to see just what it is.
That is a great picture!!!

Wow, that is sure a pretty thing!!! Actually quite amazing …
Although the old moth story my grandma used to tell me is going through my head … you know where if they get in the house how they will put holes in your clothes … and looking at this moth, I’m imaging my grandma’s face (pretty funny in my mind!!) some mighty big holes in the clothes … hahaha!!!

This one was about an inch and a half I’d say.. there abouts.

Really neat! I think that I remember seeing the carcass of one, didn’t know what it was at the time but I expect that this is what it was. Would love to see one alive and well. God surely has created some interesting creatures for us to enjoy!!

I love the shot of the moth. She is a beauty ! I haven’t seen any of the big ones here yet this year. I love it when they come to pollinate the brugmansia.
