I also had a cow bird at my feeder.I wonder if they ever left? But we have also had an uncommon owl in the near woods.Everything is mixed up.I just hope my roses do better than last year. And what of the maple syrup season??

With spring on it’s way pretty soon life will be skittles and beer
I remember the excitement of spring when I lived in the Black Hills of South Dakota, now what we used to call spring is a cold winters day in southern Texas.

that is a benefit of living in the north—can’t beat that feeling that spring brings!

I know I sound insane but I want a real winter again. We’ve had temperatures from deep freeze to almost tshirt weather. That’s just not right. But what can you do?
On the bright side, maybe we can start experimenting with Zones 6 and 7 plants. Wouldn’t that be something?
Has anyone tried? I mean anyone from Zones 4 and 5.

if we didn’t have those late frosts we could definitely venture into some other plants. That’s probably where we are going to head in the years to come, anyway.

What a lovely bird. I don’t think I have ever seen one around here. Only 1.5 more months of winter, at least according to the calendar.
Erika, I grow rosemary plants that are hardy to zone six Some winters the rosemary survives and other years it doesn’t. I am also growing goji berries which are supposed to be hardy to zone six. Only one has survived over two consecutive winters. Perhaps I found a warmer niche for that one?

the cowbird is more black than blue .. not sure why the camera made it so blue… so the bird is hard to distinguish from … hmmm other black birds.. lol
