« Part 4: May Road Trip Part 5 of Our Flower Gardens series Part 6: Weeding Day »

June 1, 2008

Last weekend we went to an artist’s place down some back road and I came home with these beauties:

(It’s a 4 foot high set of leaves, and 3’ high cattails and on the bottom right is a snail.)
I bought them to sit by the pond but when I got them home I realized that I don’t really have space around the pond to stick them in the ground. So, I moved them to the other side of the path. They are still close to the pond so I think it woks.

The artist, an older gentleman, has many different art pieces that he and his son weld: flowers, birds, bugs, alligators, T-rex, gates/fences (which I also purchased)...
My brother came home with a set of three flying geese that move in the wind. Oh yah – gorgeous!

The rock in the picture (the face) is from a pile of rocks that Rick got his hands on last year. They were a waterfall in someone’s backyard. As I was rolling this one around in the pile I saw the nose (family resemblance) and it’s now a lovely addition to my gardens.

I should take a close-up pix of the leaf to show you the beautiful rust it is becoming :)

Like the sculptures, and love the rock. Ain’t nature’s artwork grand ?!
