I hope the squirrels are making the most of the bulbs then… at least then you can say that they’ve gone for a good purpose.

Put some cayenne pepper around your bulbs and see what happens.
It breaks down after a rain so you may have to re apply.

voles and moles.
i was reading something recently that said that most people think they have moles when they really have voles.
Don’t know if that really matters.. they dig.. there are holes.. lol

no picture.. but you’d never guess what I found yesterday..

in my bird bath, floating in some water, was a frog leg. A pretty little yellow and green frog leg. Yes, just the leg.

Debbie, it sounds to me as though someone is trying to tell you something. Like, maybe turn that birdbath into something a little nicer, a little heated spa, perhaps? And the frogleg sounds like a petition for gourmet food!

April 25, 2008

Yesterday as I was checking my trees in the front yard I disturbed a killdeer and almost stepped on her nest.

Today I went out with my camera and my 500mm lens so I wouldn’t have to get too close and I took her picture. As you can see she did notice me standing behind a tree and wasn’t pleased. Although I’d like to get a picture of her babies when they hatch, I don’t want to be a nuisance so unless I dress in camouflage and take my time sneaking up on her this might be my last picture.

(You can see one of the eggs just by her leg)

Yup, I sure do see one of her eggs!!! Great shot MsDeb!!! I do love all the bird photos … Been enjoying the open windows in the house … listening to all the “music” my feathered friends are making. Joy to my ears!

inspired by everyone’s photos of their spring flowers and with rain just starting to arrive I decided that I couldn’t really start anything new (or didn’t want to) so I grabbed the camera instead.

Here is the flowerbed in front of our house. The firebush in the back (I think that is the right name) was a mother’s day gift many years ago and it was just a little tiny thing then. I think I planted one violet there at the time.

Here’s a … dang.. a whatchyamacallit…, located in my rock garden at the north-east side of my house

This in my Inuksuk that Rick and I built when my son was moving out west. It’s here so he can find his way home. (All built around the log (arms) that was given to me). The flowerbed is new. It has the blueberries at the left side and then violets under the sculpture.

Lily of the Valleys (my favourite flower) Also in the rock garden at the east side of house

My new Nannyberry tree.

Ground cover by my clothesline stand (my beautiful periwinkle and—the yellow stuff.. haha can’t remember tha name).

My rock garden in front of the house. The rock was dug up from our laneway when they were doing some work. It was just below the surface.

And a couple tulip pictures
