What season is this?

Jan 28/10

It’s very cold outside today. We’ve had little blizzards off and on throughout the day and the temperature is “minus something, celcius” (AKA FREEZING COLD!!!)

So here I sit, bundled up in a blanket and I just killed a mosquito.

What’s up with that?

Potted plant outside.. Eggs laid in overflow rim at the bottom.. Inside, warmer and not frozen.. Water fills, hits egg and activates.. ?

Only thing I can think of off the top of my head.

- 25 celcius not including the mind blowing wind this morning. Yesterday was awesome going from sunny with no wind, to almost total darkness with gusts up to 70km/hr with snow coming down so thick I couldnt see the front of the tractor.

Plowed the driveway once, put the tractor back in the barn and looked at the laneway wondering why I bothered.

Looks like it might be a sunny day today

During the Christmas holidays at my cousins they had flys and mosquitoes. They burn wood and the pests come in on the frozen wood and when they thaw out they buzz around.(lol)

-28 C at 7:30 am, not including wind chill

both dogs stuck their head out the door, looked up at me, turned and ran back up to bed.

It is impossible to live on a farm without bugs.

Only once and never again, I drove to Timmins Ontario in February and the temperature dropped to -65 C. My truck turned into concrete, impossible to start so I had it towed. I closed the front door and the frozen hinges cracked in two, leaving the door at my feet.

Timmins never gets a school “snow day”.................wierd

My seeds are sprouting,my seeds are sprouting…..hurray.

Costco has a “JIFFY” seed kit. A plastic flat with clear plastic lid, compostable seed trays, a bag of seed starter soil, and five packages of herb seeds for 9 bucks. the same seed package sells for $1.69 so I think its a good deal….............I bought two of them.

Interesting. It is COLD outside, and today, I found a large chad fly on the wall in the dining room. What the @#$% ? The aquarium is almost frozen over in the garage, and there is a chad fly inside? I have never seen anything like this before. Pretty ice patterns on the wall of the aquarium. Hopefully it will warm up this week.
