I received my William Dam Seed Catalogue last week and took some time today to go “shopping”.
On the list:- bush beans
- dutch brown beans
- pole beans
- beets
- brussel sprouts
- savoy cabbage
- kohlrabi
- carrots
- cukes
- onions
- peas
- peppers
- pie pumpkins
- radish
- spinach
- zucchini
- tomatoes
- dill
- luffah
- marigolds
I had several flowers checked but once I looked at the list of veggie seeds I skipped the flowers. So far … veggie focused! I wonder what will happen in the next few months :)

I know you probably chose marigolds bc they help with bugs, but you may want to re-consider nasturiums—-they are good to eat as well as look good, and they like poor soil and neglect. Of course their seeds can be found in any garden store in the spring. Another flower consideration might be cosmos….remember how you liked them last fall and they come into their own in the fall.

I had nasturtiums marked but forgot to type it.. I also have some seeds from last fall (as well for the cosmos).
Nasturtiums are definitely on the list!! Those seeds were so yummy

not sure. It depends when I get the seeds.
In the meantime – I’ll be looking for seeds in the stores. I want to try onions.

Debbie, I think onions might be a good choice for winter sowing. They need a relatively long growing season and they don’t seem too sensitive to the cold. This year I didn’t get all mine harvested because some were still the size of marbles when the snow came. I just kept them in the garden and occasionally I see their tops poking out of the snow. Despite the cold, they seem to be doing fine.

I’m with you!! That’s what I really want to “winter sow”. Last year I had one huge onion and it had been a leftover from last year.
