March 8, 2008 (Happy Birthday Bullseye)

With my birthday on Monday (Happy 50th yippee) we decided to have bonfire breakfast this weekend.
What a day to have it—we could barely see each other, it was snowing so hard (well that’s exaggerating a little bit but not too much).

Our gazebo was greatly appreciated today, with the semi-warm, semi-cozy (well, really cozy with 11 people inside it) , out-of-the-snow environment, it was the first time that we all ate inside. It was wonderful. We tucked garbage bags into the cracks /holes to help keep the heat inside and this time, following some of our warm weather since our last bonfire breakfast, the ice and snow that was in it last month had melted and the seats were all dry.

It was fun(ny) to watch Rick and my aunt do the cooking—the firepit was sitting on the ground but there was a foot of snow on the ground which meant that they had to bend over extra far to reach the cooking containers.

Breakfast included what we now call the traditional menu (bacon, eggs, toast, and coffee) and also included the breakfast hash that I made for the first time last month. Delicious.

But of course, it’s not about the food, it’s about family and teasing and story-telling, and making fun of people covered in snow.
A wonderful morning it was. Now I’m curled up in front of the fireplace watching the snow continue to fall. I think we’ve had about 8” already (in the past 4 hours.)

(Still waiting for Bonfire Breakfast pictures)
Here are some from the rest of the weekend

Rick shoveling

our railing

my lilac bench (remember my little zen area?)

and our fire pit.. kinda

Well, it is nice to see that you enjoyed all of what winter is throwing our way!

That breakfast sounds wonderful!

As far as being curled up by the fire, that is where we are both in agreement.

Was supposed to be on the road today, but will leave that for tomorrow and just stay by the fireplace!
