« Part 29: June 10/09 Part 30 of Our Flower Gardens series Part 31: More Guests - Doves »

June 23/09

This morning, I picked some of my herbs (anise hyssop, sage, chamomile) and some peonies and hung them all in our “cabin”.

I dried some anise hyssop in the dehydrator but that was a lengthy process and I might as well have just hung them somewhere. So—to the cabin I went :)

Even if I don’t use these herbs/flowers for anything I am getting my enjoyment from them now, as I glance in and see the beautiful colours hanging from the rafters.

Best way (other than burying them in silica) to do it. You’ll still get some “browning off”, but not as badly as you would in the dehydrator.

I have never dried flowers … other than pressed a few flowers in a book a couple of times back during teenage dating years … But, my I do LOVE the way these look hanging from your cabin ceiling … can totally understand them bringing you much pleasure as they dry!!

I didn’t smell them when i was in there.. too many windows open, I guess.

But, yes, they look impressive up there and I enjoy them.

I love the look of them. Those are beautiful peonys. I’m sure the more you hang, of various plants, your cabin will be very nice smelling.

I hope you will have some lavender to harvest too. It’s one of the best to hang. Once your herbs get dried, maybe you will have a ton of pot-pourri.

I prefer the attic crawl space area. Nice and toasty.. For now at least… Till I insulate.
