I planted these plants last year and forgotten about then, well they finely show up. What a surprise,is must be old age I can’t remember what I planted.
This one is called a corn plant when it first started to come up I though it was a weed and was ready to pull it out
right now it’s about 7 1/2 feet tall and has yellow flowers on it that look like ears of corn.
This is another one I forgot about,it’s called a jack o lantern plant I found it last October at home depot.

I also have the Japanese Lantern but it is not in bloom yet!
As far as the mullein, it is a weed and it is growing all over the place! I remove it from the flowerbeds but allow it to grow at the back by the Himalayans and it does look nice!

I got mullein from a catalog when I was creating my medicinal garden. My relatives in TN laughed and told me never to spend money on it again (it grows as a weed practically everywhere). They did give me a nice recipe for a sits-bath for the piles (LOL).
On #2, I also grew Japanese lanterns in my front bed, and the first year they looked great. The second year they became incredibly agressive, and starting last year, I actively tried to get rid of them. I’m still fighting the battle; the roots go deep and are incredibly tough—also, the roots spread the plant like rhizomes, and go quickly! The seeds are highly fertile, and germinate readily. Keep your eye on them…they’re pernicious!

Beautiful gardens. Your corn plant, is a weed here as well. I have a friend that will grow anything with a flower on it, weeds included. He lives in Calgary, but is from Ontario and will come home and take any of my wanted and unwanted plants back with him. I have told him to take all he wants LOL!
