I dont have any pics of my garden yet, I plan to take some this weekend. Some of my petunias are feeling a little down. I have several new vines growing, not many came up this time though. Moon Vines, Morning Glories. This morning I bought another miniature rose. I have not had too much luck with them so hopefully this one will work out better

I can’t wait to see pictures!
I’ll have to go look to see what a Moon Vine looks like.

THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE BEEN ALLOWED TO HAVE A STANDARD ROSE ITS YELLOW AND CALLED GOLDEN SHOWERS. WE MOVED HERE ABOUT A YEAR AGO NOW AND EVERY TIME WE WENT TO THE PROPERTY PRIOR TO SALE COMPLETION MORE AND MORE PLANTS WERE DISAPPEARING FROM THE GARDEN. JUST BEFORE THE COMPLETION ON ONE SUCH VISIT I COULD NOT HELP MYSELF (MUCH TO MY SHY WIFES DESPAIR)
I SAID TO THE SELLER ARE YOU TAKING THE GRASS AS WELL. YOU HAVE NEVER SEEN A DEEPER HUE OF SCARLET IN SOMEONES FACE.
SO GEL AND I HAVE HAD TO RESTOCK THE GARDENS AND THATS HOW I GOT MY STANDARD ROSE .
MY ASHES ARE TO BE PUT IN AN HOURGLASS SO I CAN KEEP WORKING
REGARDS MIKE

Here you go, Lady G.. :)
http://www.usna.usda.gov/Hardzone/ushzmap.html
You look to be 9a, but coastal regions can easily fluctuate. I’d say anything 8b hardy would be a safe bet for you without issue, but I’m sure you can to 9’s as well.

Thanks, I really appreciate it. I seem to do well with anything in zone 9 and some wonderful potting soil :)

I just picked up a Meyer's Lemon tree a bit ago that would do great in your area year round. I’ve got to bring it in when below 25deg, but you could leave it out all the time.
From what I understand, they do splendid in pots. In fact, this little thing is about to bloom and it’s only 8” tall.
So your situation is a balcony garden? Or do you have some yard, too?

I have some yard but there are 2 other gardeners here so we sectioned off parts of the yard, we have some trees that are shared but each of us has a small part and we plant what we want in the space. They have the dirt, which I have never had any luck with, I chose a nice sunny spot by our fence and that is how I had decided to do the container garden I guess it was more out of necessity than real choice. There is a lemon tree I think its a Meyers tree, it has been here for as long as I can remember, which has been about 25 odd years. It still produces wonderful lemons, but I am not a big lemon fan, I like grapefruits much better. :)
