« Part 1: Scoring a few windows Part 2 of Green House Project series Part 3: Structure framing »

The last couple of days consisted of the removal of a rusted out shed and thanks to the help of a friend cut two trees down and got the area cleaned up and ready to lay out the window’s.
After closer inspection I found all the window’s are safety glass…wow!...so hopefully our hail storms will not be an issue.
For me this is like the coolest puzzle to put together ….but no instructions.
Time to put the grey matter to work, that can be dangerous.
After measuring and re-measuring, the finished inside will be 115” X 120” X 108” or 9’7” X 10’ X 9’
It is slightly smaller than I wanted in the beginning but for the price I cant complain, it should be perfect for our family.
The rain and freezing cold puts a slight damper on the project but my hopes are to get it finished in time for an early spring garden.
More pics to come

safety glass … well isn’t that a surprise gift!! Nice.

The jigsaw puzzle… I never thought of that. We have a variety of windows from a variety of sources. Somehow putting them all together in an efficient and somewhat aesthetically-pleasing manner. That is a challenge! hmmm

I was lookin out back in the scrap pile and came across 1 1/2” X 4” X 11’ Aluminum square tubing about 1/4” thick wall. I knew I didnt want to scrap them babies. I’m all about repurposing things from the past and give them new life.
They will serve as the side wall rafter supports and the entry way door jam and center rafter and main beam support. Cutting them will be so much fun….I cant hardly wait. Thats pure “sacarsim” for those of you that have cut thick aluminum you know what I mean.
So the rain still falls second day now….boo hoo!
But I did take a shot of what it looks like now, the shed is removed and the trees are cut back.
The square is about the size of the green house with about 8’ of concrete out front of the entry way. Im thinking I will use top rail from chain link fencing and make a frame and cover it with 1/2 chicken wire and also grow plants outside in planter boxes or w/e I can get my hands on.

For today I guess I will put on a pot of beans ….and this evening whip up some fried taters and corn bread for dinner.
Take care all.
God Bless.
:-)
