Last weekend my bride and I was watching a movie, in this movie the guy built a green house from repurposed windows and doors. Of coarse bells went off and I instantly lost track of the movie thinking of having a green house.
I find from time to time….well maybe always, I tend to over think things and make them complicated when there is an easier way.
This year I would love to have a real green house. I have made others in the past and they lasted about one season. For the most part they were just a thrown togather plastic hoop house.
The next day I had the time to check out Craig’s List ….guess what I found?
A guy on there had around 75 dbl glazed vinyl windows that were made the wrong size ;-)...SCORE!!!!!
He sold me the whole lot for next to nothing. My thoughts are that having dbl glazed windows will be a big plus in the winter, but shade cloth will be needed in the summer time.

This is where I want it to be. I think having it on cement will be nice and neat.
Inside will be 36”W X 20”H X 15’L grow beds one on each side. The frame is 10’W X 16’L X 9’H
These little guys just came up and many more are heading up for the light. The green house must get rolling or im in trouble for sure
Hopefully things will go as planned and we will get to enjoy fresh garden veggies soon.
I’ll post pics as I go if there is an intrest.
Oh and if you have a moble home manufacturer close by they maybe able to help you out also. Most window manufactures have what they call the bone pile of windows that they wish people would help them get rid of. Just a hint for those who may like a nice green house at a basement price.
Thanks for looking
God bless

I will be following this process. It is on my list for this year. I was going to say “our list” but haha Rick is probably hoping that I’d forget.

Craigslist has been quite a source of material for me – but I’ve never scored like this. Have fun Jim! Like Jroot I too am soooo envious!

Today we removed a shed, it was an old metal rusted out thing. It was in the way of much needed sun….besides being completely ugly.
Next is to remove two small trees….just chop down and drag out back to dry for winter green house heat. If its pretty then I may be inclined to make something from it….never know.
