This will probably evoke memories of being a child and visiting grandma’s house. Every grandma had a large Christmas cactus in the formal livingroom in a wicker stand. This is what I think of every time I look at my cactus in flower.

I have some pictures of the butterflies that visited my garden this fall that I’ll try to get on tomorrow.

This is my friend, Pat, who welcomes campers.

We had some visitors one day, but they were young and didn’t bother us.

Of course the beach at the Pinery is a very popular area.

This is a typical picture of the Pinery and obviously the reason for the name of the park.

The sunsets over Lake Huron are world famous and the Pinery offers a great place from which to take these pictures. We were treated to a show from some youngsters with their kites. It was so windy they only had to hold the kite up and the wind caught it and took it up into the sky. It made for a very special picture.

The abundant rain-fall this year brought all the wild flowers to the best I’ve ever seen them.

And of course, the Monarchs were everywhere———

As were many other butterflies——

I would have loved to show you some pictures of the many birds that visit the Pinery, but the foliage was so thick this year and I was too lazy to hunt them.

A closer look at the flowers.

When you come off the front deck and walk through the garden to the east, you walk through the arbor.

Up the east side of the house is a butterfly bush that hides the AC.

Then you have a view into my backyard.

Well that’s it, now you have some idea of how I garden. Not very orderly. Actually with hardly any rhyme or reason. In the spring, after the daffs and tulips, my gardens are full of blooming iris. Every few weeks the picture changes so it’s hard to decide just when to take ‘a typical’ picture. These shots were taken within the last week. Hope you enjoyed.
