I spent last week with a friend at PPP. She has been in the Host/Hostess program for about 10 years. She started out camping in a tent but in recent years her health is not as good and getting up and down out of a tent has changed her style of camping. I have a small camper that I lend her to keep her off the ground and drier if it rains. But this year rain was not a problem, and although it got cool acouple nights, every day was sunning and bright. We had a good time!
This is my friend, Pat, who welcomes campers.
We had some visitors one day, but they were young and didn’t bother us.
Of course the beach at the Pinery is a very popular area.
This is a typical picture of the Pinery and obviously the reason for the name of the park.
The sunsets over Lake Huron are world famous and the Pinery offers a great place from which to take these pictures. We were treated to a show from some youngsters with their kites. It was so windy they only had to hold the kite up and the wind caught it and took it up into the sky. It made for a very special picture.
The abundant rain-fall this year brought all the wild flowers to the best I’ve ever seen them.
And of course, the Monarchs were everywhere———
As were many other butterflies——
I would have loved to show you some pictures of the many birds that visit the Pinery, but the foliage was so thick this year and I was too lazy to hunt them.
Hope you enjoyed this visit to the Pinery!

I’ve never been to this park. Definitely looks like it should be on our list!
Thanks for sharing.

We used to go here when I was a youth. Sneak away while the parents were away for the weekend.
Didn’t I meet you there one weekend? You remember, the wild weekend? LOL
Seriously, for a change, it is a really great park. I ‘d love to go back….. to remember the good old times, and enjoy the present.

The Pinery is a great park, MsDeb, if you don’t require all the bells and whistles when you are camping. The camp-sites usually are situated amongst trees and shrubbery, except in sites that have electricity. You have to walk a short distance for your water, there are no hook-ups on site. except in areas for electricity. But there is excellent comfort stations.
Bon, Lake Huron has wonderful beaches, clean white sand and shallow enough for younsters to play. Throughout the summer the beaches at the Pinery can be crowded.
jroot, I am much too younger to remember the ‘wild days’ at the Pinery! 0:-D It’s true, during the 60’s and 70’s the Pinery could be a rough place to camp, but in recent years the wardens have cracked down on the rowdiness and the Pinery is a much friendlier place for young families and seniors.——-Yet the activities there are a challege to the ‘younger’, fitter crowd. The wardens and naturalists at the Pinery make visiting there a really great learning experience.

bells and whistles for me is: a shower.
That’s all I ask… I just have to have a shower in the morning :)
ok.. I don’t “HAVE TO” but that my luxury that I like to have available.
