« Part 3: Finally, the Front Bed is beginning to bloom!!!! Here's a few more ... Part 4 of Grandma's Gardens series Part 5: What A Difference One Day Makes - July 10, 2008 »

Here are a few more perennials that are beginning to bloom in my front garden …

These are my Pink Coneflowers ... they are almost as tall as my front porch now.

Here are my White Coneflowers ... I LOVE Coneflowers!!!

These are 3 brand new Astra Blue Double Balloonflowers plants, started this spring. Just now beginning to show their colors.

My big ol’ Pink Daylily, originally given to me by a wonderful parent at the school I worked for. I brought a piece of “her” with me from our old home. She is peppered with buds; this the second bloom to open.

Here are the first blooms of my Dwarf Daylily called Little Business. These two plants were started from bareroot last spring. In the second photo, if you look real close you can also see the first bloom from my Zebrina Mallows. They seem to have gotten a slow start this year.

Gosh, what a difference a hundred miles makes. My balloonflower is just beginning to bud, my stellas should start to open in a day or so, same with my hostas.

Thank you MsDeb and “D”—been waiting for these plants to open. Fun taking the pics and sharing them with everyone. Waiting now for my Dahlia’s, Rudbeckia Prairie Sun’s and Brown Eyed Susans (thanks “D”!!!!) to open. They are almost there … can almost “see” their colors :-)

And Greenthumb, yes we would have a blast gardening, sharing plants, along with lots of laughs! It would be awesome being neighbors!! :-)

Oh Dini your post wasn’t there when I thanked everyone above and responded, we must have been writing at the same time – LOL!!! ... Anyway … yah, it is amazing to see the difference miles make. Surprisingly there is even a difference from our old house to here and it is still all within the suburbs of Detroit.

I do enjoy seeing the different pics and how they relate to what my flowers/gardens are doing or not doing, as the case may be. :-)

GranT,
How I wish I was your neighbor!!
So jalous of your cornflowers, they are gorgeous! Mine are having a hard time I had to deadhead some last week because of bugs!! But they seems to be perking up!

To have such a nice yard right next door would indeed be fantastic!
Nice work!

”E” ... you know I would LOVE to be your neighbor. Question is would we get any gardening done cuz we would talking and having tea and taking walks through your wonderful woods along with you teaching me how to make concrete bird baths!!!! One can wish … :-)

Haven’t had any trouble with my coneflowers (where is some wood to knock on!! LOL!!). They are quite lovely this year. But sorry yours were struggling, glad they are perking up!!
