Toy Trains & Slotcars - 5 replies While I was up fixing things at my mothers house I took the time to excavate dads old Lionel trains and etc from the loft in the work shed. They used to be displayed in the house but dad eventually put them into storage in their original boxes in the shed. Since my son (going on 3) is obsessed with trains I thought I’d dig them out and ... |

Plant ID Please? - 11 replies I’d seen these at Lowes for 50 cents each and decided to pick some up. They have a woody stem to them and do not look like annuals at all so I thought I’d take my chances and pick them up. Size is about 12” tall by 12-16” wide, variegated leaves, semi hardwood branching. CLICK TO ENLARGE. I’ve p... |

Training Tomatoes, How do you Prefer? - 17 replies So, we’ve got 70 tomato plants that have been producing like bang busters for a long while now. Problem is they’re so gigantic that any time it rains, at least 10 pull their stakes and fall over. Some have even just “snapped” their stakes in half they’re so big. We’d lost a few to root disruption because of... |

The Unknown Plant #3 - Shrub - 6 replies This is a shrub in the front yard against the foundation which has got us stumped. It’s about 3’ tall, does bloom but not quite yet. Has longer leaves and an odd flaking style bark which is a lovely brown color. As usual, click to see the larger image. |

Stumbled On: 35 Pest and Disease Remedies - 5 replies Just stumbled onto this and thought everyone would enjoy the read. Japanese beetle bustersLike slugs and snails, Japanese beetles have plagued gardeners for years. One way to stop them in their tracks is to suck them up with a small, handheld vacuum. Another way is to throw a handful of larkspur or delphinium leaves into a blender, add the b... |

We took the lilies out and left this thing. It was small at the time and had large leaves, so we thought we’d see what it was. Not sure what it is. So….. Any ideas? Click to view the BIG pictu... |

So, I sent out a WANTED on Freecycle to see if anyone jumps in willing to break it up for $. Anyway, once it’s broken up I’ll want to add material to it to keep it from becoming to tightly compacted. Beyond sand, any advice on what I can ad... |

Fertilizer For Fruit Trees. Opinions Plz. - 3 replies Ok, so I’ve got two apple trees that need a drastic pruning. They’d been let go, had dead matter and are in bad shape. Though one is really nice, it’s also too large. Anyway, I’m looking at 30% pruning for one and 50% for the other, which will happen late November. It’s a hard hit for sure. Wanted some opinion... |

Moved Lilies - 10 replies I don’t think I’d showed anyone the piles of lilies we’d moved when we sold the old house.. These two pics show two separate groups that needed planted. What's so special about... - 15 replies Bluebirds? Ok.. So we’ve go Bluebirds now.. What’s so special about them? Beyond that they’re pretty, they’re rather boring. I think by far my favorite birds are the Mocking Birds that come around. Awful friendly, never fly off unless you get REAL close and have a WONDERFUL song selection. My least favorite? Blue... |
