Around the Yard #2: Some minor updates

« Part 1: Blooming Around The Yard - Back From Flu Part 2 of Around the Yard series Part 3: So Much to do.. More on the List. »

Just wanted to put up a few shots of things around the yard right now.

The “invasive” plants my father in-law gave us are doing nicely beside the power box. All are in bloom and look really good together.

The poor ring around the light pole of lilies seems way over filled to me. I’ll be pulling out some of the more productive lilies to make room for the others.

Grapes are doing nicely. The lone grape vine that we kept is full of grapes, and the new plants we got this year also have a nice bunch of grapes on each.

The garden is doing well. We’ve got to replant a row of peas that did not sprout, which we’re going to get done this afternoon.

The tomatoes are coming along well indeed.

The fig is doing really well, not only the large plant but the smaller ones I moved earlier this year. The large bush has figs all over it. I took part of yesterday to prune out the dead stalks so that it’s cleaner and easier to pick.

My fave Sedum is in bloom now, making a beautiful light green and yellow mat anywhere that I’d planted it.. I’m going to take this years grown from around the front light pole and transplant it to the ditch out back so that it takes it over and choaks out the weeds from around the rocks.

Peonies are in bloom near the small ponds. This one isn’t anywhere near as fragrant as the one by the mailbox.. Going to pull that one up after it blooms out and move it closer to the house.

The front porch looks wonderful now and will only get better as the season progresses and everything grows out more. The hanging baskets I put up are doing really well and the ferns are filling in and bushing out. Even the butter ball cat is enjoying the view.

Lastly, a nest of Robins in their typical kind of location. Cute little guys, eh?

Thanks for the new walk through Scott. Yah, know I love pics!!!! :-) I do enjoy seeing all your plants, gardens, and landscaping. That top pic of the “invasive” plant is a Zebrina Mallow. Yup, they do come up EVERYWHERE (once established), but I LOVE them. Mine are sooooo tiny right now. Got only two leafs on them. Amazing the difference in growing zones.

Anyway, really nice photos Scott …
