Well, here’s the finished fence section. Well.. Almost finished.. I need to trim the posts and put finials on each of them.

My wife asked that I not paint it black and to leave it the rusted white, so I did.. Saved me work! ;)

Each side is screwed into the pole, where the “feet” of the porch supports are, I took a 2×4 and chiseled out two squares so that I could slide the rail into it and make sure it was well supported on the post.

You can see that I’ve got mostly all the daisies lined out for planting. We’ll end up mixing them up a bit, but I ordered them in order of light requirement so that I could make sure to get the sun loving ones beside the fig.

Just another angle. You can see on the outside post where the 2×4 support is that I made to hold the rail.

Here is the front “wall”, which is just off to the right hand side as seen in the picture above. Since it’s a little shady here I picked out some Day Lilies that I thought were hardy and could take a little shade. I’ve also got a hardy fuchsia that will get squeaked into this bed so that it’s got some height. Will go by the fence post most likely.

At the back of the “room” was a pile… A HUGE pile.. of field lilies.. I removed them because; 1) They’re boring.. 2) It’s not healthy for the tree to have them piled up under it. They’re going to find their way into the rubble rock of the storm culvert as erosion control.

You can see one of the removed piles of lilies beside the white rocker seat in the picture.

This is the other removed pile… Yes.. there’s a HECK of alot of lilies. If I went through the trouble of splitting the clumps, I could fill the back yard. Within 5 years it’d be nothing but lilies. :p
