Around the Yard #23: Trying to Keep up..

« Part 22: Pretty Pretty.. What's New and Blooming Part 23 of Around the Yard series Part 24: Big Show.. Or at Least Medium Show.. »

Piles of stuff going on now, between working on the finishing touches on the coop and dealing with the garden, plus all the work inside like cleaning the basement out, the yardsale and moving the shop down to the basement.. It’s hard to keep up.

Thought that I’d take a moment to post a few pictures from around the yard though.. They’re a couple days old, but it hasn’t changed that much yet.. ;)

This is one of the many blooming right now. It’s off to the side of the house, where we spend mostly all our outside time.

The back of the dog run as it looks now. It’s bursting with blooms at this point.

That flower I’m not 100% sure on what it is. It’s a mass of daisy like blooms and is TALL.

Speedwell, by far my fave back there, just because the bees like it so. If I expand that flower bed later, there will be some shorter Veronica tossed in front, for sure.

One of the many Asiatics which we moved from a bed we were shutting down over to the back in this bed. They’d been in the ground a week or so and are strong as ever.

Said bees.. Happily scampering about the bloom. The only one they like BETTER than the speedwell is that St. Johns Wart… Hmm.. I wonder.. Does honey made with St. Johns Wart make you more mellow then clover honey?

Yes yes… Bumble Bees don’t make honey.. Regardless, the others come too.. This is one of those “8×10” photos which I’ll surely be retouching and having printed for around the house..

you have all my favorite flowers Scot.
It’s really hard to get blues for the whole season.
That’s one good reason to culltivate Veronicas.

The lilies are paying you back big time now!

Beautiful garden Scott…Yes Bunting, I’m in the same boat as you. It’s been terribly dry, we had a warm spring, now it’s turned cold again…ugh.

Scott, that flower garden at the back of the dog run is outstanding. I love the colour. Your lillies are putting on a lovely show. Nice, very nice.

Thanks, eh.. :)

Got more in the plate too.. Going with the FIL to pick up the freebie windows on Monday or Tuesday.. No clue how many I’ll be picking up though. I’ve got to plan out real quick the basic layout of the greenhouse so I can figure out how many of what size would be best placed where. Will no doubt grab several more than needed for a greenhouse, after all I’ve got the garden shed to do as well.

Add onto that, we’re picking up 10 bales of straw for the garden so I can mulch it down after I till the grass under.

So much to do..

Bob, you should see the Daylillies out by the walk. It’s their second year and they look great. Really looking forward to seeing how they do next year. I’ll snap a picture if I can get some taken before my 3yo gets outside.. He looooooves flowers.. Picks as many as he can. There’s a good dozen+ blooms on the floor behind me as he’s eating lunch.

Love the tour … your gardens are just busting with color and have gotten so lush and full. I have lots of buds but no flowers on the Asiatic Lilies Dini gave me last summer, my roses and of course the Stellas. Other than lots of green still … sooooo, I’m a bit envious – hahaha!!!

Well my dear boy, you indeed sound BUSY (as always) but it is a good busy. And I love that your son loves his flowers!! -vbg-

Daughter and granddaughter are flying in on Friday from Arizona … she is gonna be 2 in July. Soooo, wondering if she will like to pick “Ganma’s flowers” ... ;-)

I’m sure she’ll love picking flowers… So long as she doesn’t pick the whole thing.. I had to replant one of the blanket flowers that Donovan pulled out by the roots just a bit ago.. He got a little over zealous with his pulling.

Reminds me, I’ll have that in the mail for you in a few days. Picking up the mailer when I go out tomorrow to run a few errands.

Lord, I’m jealous. So much color. I have green. Little bit of purple and blue (St John’s Wort, Phlox, and Hardy geranium (actually more a magenta)), but otherwise, green.

Scott: Beautiful flowers! Especially liked the first photo of the lilies and the last photo. Are those Delphinium? How about a Chick Update-haven’t had one in a while. Unless I missed it. How are the chickens-no longer little now, I’ll bet! Are they enjoying their new digs? Send pictures!

If those are Delphinium, that’s one scary huge bee! :D

LOL.. No, those are Speedwell.

As for the chicks, who are now pullets, they are doing fine.. I’ve got to get their run done though so that they can enjoy the outside. Well, that and the finish trim and shingles on the coop.

I’ll put some pics up once I get the roof shingled. ;)

There will be time to rest when I’m dead.
