Well, my alarm clock woke me up at 5:30 again today with it’s usual ~~Bucka Bucka Booooooooo!~~ so we had to get up and take them outside to the coop. While out we stopped by to see some of the fresh blooms.
Two of the Daylillies are blooming today. I’m not surprised that more than one opened on the same day, considering we have so many.. One of these days I’ve got to count how many clumps we do have.. Eeesh.
Anyway, will be a busy busy weekend, what with the coop to get roofed and the mower deck to repair so I can mow the yard. I’ll peek in from time to time.. Maybe even long enough to catch up with all these unread posts. So busy.. eesh.
Soooooo…. Here are the Daylillies.. As you reecall, I said I was NOT taking any more singular photos of the new blooms as to not bore you all with the same thing as last year, so I’m trying to include more interest in the photos..
In the background of the one above you can see my Sedum bird bath… Man I love this stuff.. It’s sooooooo pretty and when it flushes out with yellow blooms, it looks even better.
Anyway, the bird bath was on the property when we moved in.. Had a nice split down the side and didn’t hold water.. I’d say it’s a nice use of it.. I’ve got another cracked one I plan on doing the same with elsewhere, but closer to the ground as I have no stand for it.. Or at least I want to use the stand for a birdbath that DOES hold water.. ;)
Here’s a shot of the Yarrow in the same bed as the bird bath.. That stuff does so well and really multiplies.. In fact, I may end up moving it. But for now it’s fine there.
I wanted to show you all how many fruits are on the Choke Berry plant. I put it in last year at the end of season. This year it flushed with blooms and is now covered with berries. Luckily I have plenty of sugar around. Should be enough there to do a batch of jelly! YAY!
And here is a shot of the whole bed with the sun rising above it.. Was a rather nice view so I thought I’d snap it.
Now… Over to the other side where the pond is.. I’ve still got to fix the pond and run new hose to the top. We’ve figured that it’s a crack in the hose that is pumping all the water out of the pond as apposed to it being a crack in the pond.. It’s on my todo list.
Heck, you can’t even see the pond for all the stuff in front.. Which, it’s meant to be enjoyed at the bench, soooo…. You’d have to be sitting there to enjoy it.. ;)
These are some plants that the wife potted to take to school for an event they were having and then brought home. They look fine where they are, so we kept them there.
These on the other hand, are MORE plants that I picked up. Just some Speedwell, Flox and other stuff. As usual, it was dirt cheap.. ;)
Now if I can just get everything into the ground…. Eeeesh.
And lastly is this little jem. It’s one of the roses which refused to die when I tried to kill them off, so it’s earned a home here.. I’ll be finding a nicer place to put it eventually.. Though I’m not sure what I want to do with it. Time will tell..

Nice Scott. Lovely little resting spot by the pond. You make those of us in Canada so envious, with your warmer weather, and hence lovely blooms. Today is suppose to be sunny, but cool. :-( Maybe chances of frost during the nights. Takes some of the pleasure out of the garden, when you live in fear that all the little annuals started indoors and lovingly planted may get shot down. :-(
A gardener must be the most optimistic person to do this every year! :-)

Really enjoyed the early morning tour … loved the bird bath full of Sedum; great idea!! All your special nitches look so inviting … and of course I do love those daylilies. I do love when the daylilies are all blooming. Almost time here as well. I have buds all over my Stella’s (but no color yet). The other dwarf varieties aren’t doing anything yet …
Anyway, THANKS for the walk about … you know me, I always enjoy seeing what is going on in your yard. ;-)

Glad you liked it all, eh… Just finished up a grueling day of working in the yard. Got the section prepped for the blueberry hedge and also got half the chicken coop roof sheeted. Oh, and I fixed my mower deck.. Yay me!
Grandma, do your stellas rebloom? Ours never seem to.. Do you do anything special like cut the scapes or whatnot?
Also, if you want some of the sedum just let me know. Would be happy to mail you out some. All you’ve got to do is shove it in some dirt.. but be warned, if you drop it, it will grow. ;)

Would love some Sedum Scott … I’ll pm ya with my address …. THANK YOU!!!!
And Stellas … yah mine rebloom, of course not anything like the initial, but I do get color all summer. I found that you need to cut down the “aborted flowers” (pods) from the initial bloom. I also mulch and when the really hot weather hits, I keep them moist (not soaked) ... give them a good drink in the morning 2-3 times a week. Not sure if any of this really helps … but I am getting “rewarded” with pretty flowers. Hope this might help.
