I am what is called a 'people person', so it would really be my pleasure to have a visit with you, even invite you for a cup a . Gardening is one of my fun things along with quilting. Before moving to the town of Cambridge I had very little space for either so now I can indulge in these favourite pastimes. Quilting in the winter and gardening in the spring by indoor sowing and of course the summer in the several garden beds. I have one large bed at the back of my backyard, a center one, two more on either side of our back deck and still another underneath a window of the lower floor. then there are two long ones on both sides of the house running the full length of the house. Two more at the front of the house next to the house and the final one at the front and to the side of the house. I think that is 10. What was I thinking of. I'm nearly 68 yrs. old. Yicks LOL

Definitely something to aspire… What varieties of roses do you have? I probably missed that in a previous post.

Mtkate: Sorry I dont know the variety of the roses as they were in my backyard when we moved to this house. They were not doing well as the sun didn’t get to them sufficiently and they had not been cared for.

It is hard to see, but I think that I see 7 leaves, and that makes me think it is a type of wild rugosa. My dad had some, and they bloomed profusely along his latticed fence. Very nice indeed.

Did I also see some clematis leaves mixed in? I am not certain of that, but I thought that I saw some. Nice touch. I have some clematis that decided it would like to climb up the purple sandcherry after it had finished its bloom.

Yes I do have clamatis planted along the wall as well. Unfortunately the prettiest one is usually finished before the roses come out. I was given a very mature clamatis this spring from a neighbour who just moved in and didn’t want them. ( I believe that this is the one that is in bloom just now and it is also the purple but much smaller) I had already purchased a new one but wasn’t about to turn down this huge mature one with a root system that was probably about 14” of nearly 1” roots….wow So now I have 3 clematis along the fence in amongst the roses.

Lucky you. My clematis have overtaken my climbing rose. I had planted a beautiful blaze rose, but it died the first winter, and a new rose came up from the root stock which was a single white rose that lasted about a day and a half. I use it as a trellis for the clematis. I think that there are three different clematis that are using the rose canes for support.
