I love gardening and crafting ... hence my name Crafty Gardener.

My Canadian gardening zone is 5b. The gardens are mainly perennials but I do grow lots of annuals in seeds in my "pot garden" and some tender plants like cannas and callas. The main garden has a southern exposure so it gets very hot and dry.

I love creating "garden architecture" out of used items. I will plant in just about anything ... from old pots, old wheelbarrows, old washing machine tubs and more. My motto is that if it holds dirt I can plant in it.

not much to see – yet—except the layout :)
but it will come. LumberJocks.com, once it started became “the” place to be for woodworkers and I know GardenTenders is going to enjoy the same experience

As you can see from the comments above, I joined a long time ago and the promptly forgot about this site.
I’m going to try and be more active. What is the sense of joining if you don’t participate.

that explains it. I didn’t look further but wondered why I was seeing your gardens without having said hello to you in a welcome note. My memory didn’t remember 309 days ago when I said hi. hahaha

Well I love your motto!!! I have just about the same one … LOVE finding odd/old items and repurposing them in the garden. Look forward to seeing more as time passes. :-)

I really like the photo you have for your avatar. Late this summer I received an old wooden highchair and I’m looking forward to using it in the garden next year.

Thank you “CG” ... have to admit, this is about the most favorite thing I have in my garden this year. It weathered so cool and the Petunia plant got HUGE.

A wooden highchair would be AWESOME in the garden … planning on using it as a planter?? Hmmmmm, may have to keep my eye open for one, as that is a great idea. Hope you don’t mind me possibly stealing it. :-)

Welcome, indeed, Linda.

I recall “meeting” you when I had the Gardening in Zone 5 sites a few years ago (until the nasty posters “looking for love “got out of control and I closed the sites).

This is a good friendly group who are supportive in most endeavours, and often are a source of knowledge and inspiration. You’ll enjoy it, I am sure.

Hi Bon, nice to meet you. You aren’t that far from me.

jroot, I do remember that group. I still have a Canadian gardening group at MSN, but it certainly isn’t as busy as it used to be.

Hi Bon, thanks for taking my garden tour. I used to do lots of seed trading and even organized a few seed swaps at Garden Web. Last year I didn’t do much trading as I knew I would be gone for a good part of the summer and wasn’t going to be planting so many annuals. I have collected some seeds, but not nearly as many as I usually do. If you are looking for something specific I can check to see if I have it.

Hi Linda
I wasn’t really looking for anything particular I just wondered if you liked to trade seeds.A few of us have listed what we have to trade and then PM (private message) each other if we find something we would like to grow in our gardens next year.
