I love purple coneflowers. I don’t have to water them, I don’t have to feed them, and they just look better every year. I have a huge clump of them growing in my front garden, and they are just starting to bloom their heads off. This photo is of the first bloom I got this year, and, as you can see, it’s almost the size of my hand!
Besides being gorgeous, I love coneflowers because Monarch butterflies are magnetically attracted to them, and I can leave the spent flowers standing all winter to provide winter interest and seeds for the finches, sparrows, and mourning doves that visit my garden. Oh, yeah, and it reseeds reliably but not so much that it becomes a garden thug.

Just love them! Mine are starting to bloom!
And I agree with all your comments on why you like them because that was why I brought them here when we started this place!

I got some this year, but since they are transplants, I doubt they’ll bloom…they are favorites, though, and yours are HUGE!
