Now Blooming: Purple Coneflowers
I love purple coneflowers. I don’t have to water them, I don’t have to feed them, and they just look better every year. I have a huge clump of them growing in my front garden, and they are just starting to bloom their heads off. This photo is of the first bloom I got this year, and, as you can see, it’s almost the size of my hand! Besides being gorgeous, I love coneflowers because Monarch butterflies are magnetically attracted to them, and I can leave the spent flowers standing all winter to provide winter interest and seeds for the finches, sparrows, and mourning doves that visit my garden.
