I was devastated, doing what I read to be near impossible. Next year I have this all planned out, I will make several, thousands if need be, new cactus and put them in spots in like different shapes then put the Poppies inside of the “fortress”. That should keep everything and everyone away, even the one with the rake. ;)

I wish you well with your cactus plan lol.
that really is too bad about the flowers :(
Last year it was rabbits for me, they ate trees, grapes, peas…... and on and on and on
