Tuberose, Dahlia and more.

This was the first time I planted Tuberose on my terrace garden. The plant grows to about 3 feet tall. The name has nothing to do with the Rose. The tuberose is named for the shape of its rootstock which is tubular. The bulb produces tall flower spikes with numerous tubular, funnel shaped white blooms and are known for their very sweet intoxicating and seductive perfume. They are used extensively in flowerpots. 2010 Lady Slippers

Do you remember my lady slippers from last year…..I think I did a project entry on them. Well they are back! Bigger and better(I hope) There are four stalks this year and one of them has started blooming. It appears to have two flowers on it. I am hoping the cooler weather will hold them for awhile.
