I went through the flyers that picked up at the Stratford Garden Festival yesterday.
Here are some of the interesting tidbits
June 5th: 13 Annual Garden Fair, Water St. St Mary’s (free event) – sounds interesting
pruning information (I will create a new blog about this as it is a whole topic in itself)
grass: don’t start mowing until it is actively grown and is at least 8 cm tall
ponds: start feeding fish when temp of water is 10 degrees C

Information from the Presentations that I attended
Session 1: Low Maintenance Gardening- mulch: use shredded mulch (pine, cedar) because it will decompose better- don’t smother perennials, pull the mulch back from them a bit- don’t put mulch up around tree trunks as it will rot the bark and the tree will die- create a saucer with the mulch, creating a pocket to retain water - annuals are water hogs – use containers for annual...

With the morning sun shining brightly, Rick and I headed to Stratford. It was a gorgeous morning for the approx. 1 hour drive.
At the show, we had a few minutes to wait until it opened. At the door, we were welcomed by this beautiful piece of art:
