We have asparagus.. LOTS and LOTS of asparagus!! I am giving it away and using it for other than “steamed with some butter on top”. Mar. 1/13 I had an idea for a dessert, checked out some recipes online and then just tossed together some ingredients that I had in the house and … well, the proof is in the pudding. Oct 31/13 The other day I tried a new recipe … a giant chocolate chip cookie, baked in a cast-iron frypan. I’m loving my cast-iron pans, now that I’m getting them well-seasoned. Ok.. the cookie 1. Oct. 10/13 What’s for supper? Chicken & dumplings, with a twist … 1. Heat some coconut oil in a pan (I used my Cast Iron roaster)2. Saute a chopped onion 3. 12/2/12 I thought I’d try a new bread recipe today … (Makes 2 delicious loaves) 1. Dissolve 1 tsp sugar in 1/2 c warm water2. Sprinkle in a package of yeast (2.5 tsp ?) and let stand 10 min.3. Heat 1 c. milk to lukewarm4. Stir into the milk: 2 tbsp sugar, 1.5 tsp salt, 2 tbsp butter, and 1/2 c warm water.5. Add milk mixture to yeast mixture6. Oct. 18/12 I was outside raking leaves today, gathering them for my blueberry patch, and I worked up a sweat. Inside, after I cooled down, I then felt chilly. What do you eat when you have a chill? Oct 16/12 Last week I made some chestnut puree for .. hmm.. I think it was a stuffing recipe. That recipe was “ok”. But.. I ended up with almost a pint jar full of the stuff and had to find a recipe to use it up. I decided on just using it as a chestnut butter and spreading it on some toast.
