Grow Light Progression #3: Repoted and Harden Off

06-11-2017 03:11 PM by jwarner | 0 comments »

I’m a day late. I forgot what day it was, and finding out it was Sunday. So forgive the 1-day late post lol I repotted my Tomato plants into 4” Pots to give the roots more growing room. You can see the photo below of the repotted plants, I was kind of concerned when repotting that I didn’t damage the root system or even breaking the stems, but they appear to be strong enough to handle the transfer from the cells to the pots. They are doing better it appears, I buried t...

11-10-2014 11:13 AM by malinda | 0 comments »

A greenhouse is a glass building in which growth of the plants are protected from extreme weather conditions such as harsh sunlight and cold weather. However, it is always not possible...

a gardening we will go.... #4: june-ing

06-20-2011 11:12 AM by soobee | 13 comments »

Hello. Is it almost the end of june? Really? It has been a corker I will tell you. My Mom suddenly passed away in BC about a month ago and I am just home and settling in. I am good and all I can say is this whole ‘death process’ (for the survivors) is ‘weird’. It is like ‘erasing’ someone. Literally. In all things legal and in regards to ‘stuff’. It is a mixed bag of tricks. This is the first time I have had to deal with Death as an ad...

2008 Winter #14: Winter Sowing Update: March 25/10

03-25-2010 05:57 PM by MsDebbieP | 9 comments »

Yesterday I was sitting out on the deck and decided to, once again, check my winter sowing containers. What to my surprise – but some little green buds down in there! The one jug has onions in it—the same onions that did NOT sprout indoors, in the mini greenhouse. The other seedlings are broccoli. Oh and I think the flowers that I planted last .. I can’t remember what it was and yes, I forgot to put a marker in it.. sheesh.. Anyway—I have success!

2008 Winter #11: WGC #4: Seed Searching

01-07-2010 04:41 PM by MsDebbieP | 13 comments »

Jan 7/10 Today I stopped in at our local feed and seed store and I was told that they usually have seeds the first week of January—just not yet, this year.I was also told that although they usually have them, they don’t put them out yet because typically people aren’t buying seeds yet. I’ll be stopping in, whenever I go through town over the next week or so and asking if they are in yet (since I won’t be seeing them on the shelves).

2008 Winter #8: Winter Gardening - Phase 1

12-08-2009 04:57 AM by MsDebbieP | 2 comments »

Dec 8/09 Last month the challenge was made to do some “Winter Gardening” (or winter sowing as I’ve also seen it called). For me, this will be my first time at doing this – on purpose. Every spring I see some plant that has surprisingly re-seeded itself. I’ve had lettuce come up, onions, pumpkins and squash, and numerous flowers including the giant sunflower I had this year. TYPE OF SEEDSToday, I thought it was time to really start thinking about what I want...
