Here are a few more perennials that are beginning to bloom in my front garden …
These are my Pink Coneflowers ... they are almost as tall as my front porch now.
Here are my White Coneflowers ... I LOVE Coneflowers!!!
These are 3 brand new Astra Blue Double Balloonflowers plants, started this spring. Just now beginning to show their colors.

This is our first house and we are thrilled to be able to garden, but it is a lot of work. This is what we have done so far, since we both work it’s taking a bit of time. We are also on a tight budget so we are growing every single thing from seed.
Some pictures:

Well the mulch was delivered today. 8 scoops, which breaks down to 4 pickup truck loads. It’s rather fun to play in, love the smell.
For size, and a side shot of the pile. Stuff in the back is a wetvac and a vanity that are going to be picked up as trash.
I’d also been working for the last two nights to cover the flower bed along the back and side of the fence. Because the back was pre-planted, I needed to cut wholes in the cardboard for the plants. That was a trip.

Well, as I promised I’m posting pics of the new clumps, fresh out of the ground..
I hauled these home in my car. With some creative placement it only took 3 trips.
A trunk full.. I can average 5 clumps in the trunk, 3 in the back seat and one in the front.
The aftermath of the transport.. This is why they make shop-vacs. ;)
All in all, it’s 25-28 clumps.. I lost track, actually.. Grand total? $110.

The nights are getting a bit cooler now and September is right around the corner. As I gaze out into my yard I am realizing that this is really the tail end of my flowers and their beautiful colors. Summer is quickly coming to an end.
When hubby and I went away on our latest vacation, I had expected to come home to the dreary task of beginning to put my gardens to “bed”. A task that I hate because I know fall is basically here and winter not far behind.
As we approached the ...

Quite a few pictures today of first blooms. Going to be busy busy for a while so not going to have much time to post replies. Do appreciate any comments though and am not ignoring them. Just a busy time of year.
I don’t want to miss posting the fresh blooms however, so making sure I make time for that.

Some golden Lantana I put beside the dressing room flanking either side of a young Lilac. Darned if the stuff isn’t annual here though.. Lowes tag says it’s evergreen, which I knew was off for this zone. But it’s hardy to only zone 8. Going to cut it back and cover with leaves this winter, see if I can save them that way.
Also decided on...

I decided that I’m going to post pictures of the daylilies first blooms throughout the year.
Since I’d skipped a day, this is yesterdays first bloom.
Isolde
Now, some times the first blooms are not the best and may be slightly deformed, like the petal on the first one is halved. It happens on firsts. Just use your imagination on what the whole thing looks like. ;)
Anyway, on with the show.
