Sept. 15, 2008 Yesterday Rick & I headed to Whistling Gardens (my local tree “fix”) to get some fall deals. I had a list and stuck to it, miraculously!! Perhaps it was because Rick was with me, haha! :) I went for a Butterfly Bush (but they had run out) a hydrangea, and a Rose of Sharon. My Carolinian Forest #3: New Nannyberry

May 2, 2008 Last year, I purchased a pawpaw tree and a nannyberry. Two weeks after planting, one of them was attached by the lawnmower. I couldn’t remember which tree was which and so I’ve lost one but don’t know which one. Today I went back to my tree nursery and purchased a second Nannyberry. Of the two it is the nannyberry that I really don’t want to lose. So I either now have 2 nannyberries and no pawpaws or I have, once again, one pawpaw and one nannyberry. ...

I thought it was would be nice to show you my front yard and what better day to take the pictures than today! Here is a photo taken from my front door: On the left side is our grand ol’ lady the maple that only has a few years left, sadly. My neck of the woods, in Southwestern Ontario, is the very farthest northern tip of the Carolinian Forest. (Another half hour north of me and the environment has changed.) “Carolinian Forest” is exactly what the name says—- forest from the Carolinas.
