So, Today I have a lot of stuff to talk about. I don’t think my garden is doing too well :( Just for background info, I am in zone 6a, and my garden is getting full to dappled sun and it is getting sun all day. I water pretty much daily unless it rains. We got the soil it is in right now from a compost pile at our transfer station. I noticed that my garden is way behind everyone elses :( So all of my garden was started from seed. I bought most of the seeds in April, sowed them indoor...
This one gets better colors every year: And for a new daylilie: And a new lily:
Well, I am on the medicine now. I am using an umbrella, and trying to work, but it is only good for watering as I loose one hand to the umbrella. I am thankful that the treatment is 2 weeks. Last time it was either 3 or a month. I have to let the guinea fowl out again. I hope they don’t wreck my garden. They also may keep out the cotton tails. They have scared cats and a dog away from the yard, so I imagine the cotton tails will not feast on my beans with them on patrol. T...
July 15, 2008 GramT thought it would be nice to see what I see from my gazebo so I took my little digital camera which has a movie setting on it and created the following little video. The quality is really bad (and there’s no audio) and the embedded version is really small. Here is the link to the original posting at blip.tv http://blip.tv/file/1086143/ So there you go… our “cottage up north”, just steps out our back door! :)
I have been waiting since Winter to see these flowers bloom … when I first placed an order for 6 of these plants. To be honest I had never heard of DWARF Hollyhocks. Well my wait is over. This morning as I went about my morning routine of watering containers and dead-heading plants I noticed these little guys had opened up their first flowers. Soooooo, I had to share my excitement with you all … Here is a good view of the plant and first blooms. So many more blooms to open!!! ...

Thought I’d drop a line and say howdy. I’d been away for some time due to several reasons. One, the recent rain has put the garden into overload.. Two, been busy making jams and jellies with the apples we’d had to knock off the tree to keep the branches from snapping.. Three, my father died at the end of last month and it’s completely knocked any extracurricular things out of my sails. I just hadn’t felt like posting at all. Things around the house are goin...
July 14, 2008 Don’t know what this flower is. I’m sure that last year in this spot was a brown cornflower type flower. I transplanted a bunch of it earlier this year and have been waiting for the brown/gold flower to show itself. Instead I get this!
They are finally in full bloom. Two shades of pink and a yellow one in the middle.
