There have been a few mentions of plant labels made out of this or that on the site so I thought I’d toss mine up.
Since the ferns that I ordered survived and are starting to pop up I thought I’d make better labels for them rather than just having the bad buried in the ground for future ID.
I made these out of the left over blind slats from an aluminum blind that’s in the bathroom. Since it’s metal, it will last dang near forever.

My hens are great. They are funny, friendly, and fastidious workers. My daughter made a “Girls Working” sign to put out when the “girls” are on the job. They help me clear undergrowth, de-bug the garden, cultivate the soil and leave fertilizer. The “man” (main rooster), watches out for anything that could be dangerous. The chickens work hard all day. They are not abused, coerced, or under duress. We love our chickens, and they all have names. They i...

Since I started “Need 4 Seed” in February, we have helped over 35 families! I have received some donations of seed, and I basically pack them up as “Veggie Gardens in a Bag”. I send out as much variety as possible.
With food prices going through the roof, gardening for food makes sense. Even if someone supplied all their own veggies in a garden this summer, I would venture to say with the rising cost of everything else, their food bill will not go down at all.

The pics did not come out as well as I had hoped, its still very overcast here today. I am not a “Great Gardener” with a limited budget we all know that is hard to do, but my little ones make me happy. Whenever I need some peace and calm I just pull up a chair next to them and read a nice book.
These two are my little space in the back
This is a small space I snagged out in the front
The name of the mountains here is the San Gabriel Mountain Range
Here is another pi...

What a great day to be out in the garden for pictures and a strole through the rows! Lots of sights and sounds and wonderful smells :D. As Always I saw the resident finches in and amungst the sunflowers, which have started to bloom (each finch seams to be laying claim to a new head hehe). Too bad they’re so quick to take a pic of :( But I was able to snap some of the sunflowers, sorry only yellow talls and giants so far;

Don’t know what this flower is. I’m sure that last year in this spot was a brown cornflower type flower. I transplanted a bunch of it earlier this year and have been waiting for the brown/gold flower to show itself. Instead I get this!
