Recently, I wrote an article for gardenhelp.org discussing Noxious Weeds. After responding to a post here that suggested Butterfly bushes, which may or may not be noxious in your area, I thought it might be timely to share some information about Noxious Weeds with our community. Keep in mind that my discussion relates specifically to Washington State. However, I hope it inspires you to seek out more information about how weeds are classified in your area. Like me, you may be sad and surprised...
This is a staple in our house…One day me and a friend were chatting on the phone and she said she was starving and was going to head to McD’s for something to eat…I told her that I would talk her through a healthy cooked dinner in less time than it would take her to drive to McD’s and back so she was up for the challenge even though she had never really cooked anything before…So we timed it and aside from peeling the potatoes she had a steaming hot chicken di...
I have been researching the web and other places for puppies as I would like to start raising 2 different breeds!! Well!!!!...they say they love their puppies…but they sell them when they are not ready to be separated from their mother. Small breeds should be 12 weeks and big breeds 8 weeks. Most people will sell them at 6 weeks. When you mention it to them, they look at you like you are crazy!! So, if you are looking for a puppy, PLEASE make sure they are old enough!!!

Today the temperatures reached 9 degrees here…wow, just last week it was in the -20’s. The warm weather inspired me to make some summer food. For the potato wedges I threw a handfull of my “everything spice” in a baggie spun up some cornflakes in the food processor and added them to the baggie, I then peeled and cut into wedges 6 medium potatoes and tossed them into the bag with a tablespoon of oilve oil…Shake it all about and throw them on a cookie sheet...
I saw a post earlier asking “where our advice is coming from”. Part of the discussion suggested we list our hardiness zones to help out. A few weeks ago I donated to arborday.org. While on their website, I found a hardiness zone look up. This will work for those of you with US Zipcodes. Those of you outside the US might contact arborday.org request a tool that works for your location. Keep in mind that these zones are based on your zip code only, so your micro-climate probably ...
