It is that time of year to start planning on which home and garden shows to attend. I have heard there is a great one in Atlanta each year (I’ll have to check and see if it is this weekend while I’m there, I never get that lucky.).
I heard Michigan State has their show around March 15th or 16th, has anyone ever been? Being a “farm school” I bet they have some great stuff!

As some people may know Tennessee along with other states were hit hard with tornado’s. From my understanding Tennessee was hit the hardest. First and foremost my thoughts and prayers go out to the families of those who have lost loved ones and who have lost their homes. I want to share some things that I have been through this weekend.
I work for a sheriff’s department in Tennessee that was not hit by a tornado but above and below us were hit. This the second time we have ...

Our February Bonfire Breakfast was another success.
My day began at 4:30 (just for the fun of it) and gathered all the cooking materials and got them ready to go out to the fire. Our typical meal includes bacon, eggs and toast but today I added something new.
During on of the “road trips” that my sister-in-law and I were on (visiting antique stores) I bought a camping set which included a coffee pot, 4 dishes, and a stew pot. Well, today was the day to test them ...

Rick and I just spent a couple hours getting the gazebo ready for our monthly Bonfire Breakfast. We had to remove the remnants of the old tarp (well, we left some of it for added padding around the metal and edges). Then we put two old tarps over the top, overlapping in the middle.
The weather channel says that the wind will be out of the south tomorrow morning so we overlapped the tarps in such a way that the wind hopefully won’t go swooping underneath and ripping them off.
We als...

I was headed upstairs to do some housework and out of the corner of my eye I caught a glimpse of the sun glistening on the ice/snow covered trees.
I quickly changed my plans (oh how hard it was to avoid housework) and grabbed my camera. These are (again) taken from my front door, looking out over my yard.
Just thought I’d share my morning smile with you.
(oh and in the centre bottom of the picture is a “rock” garden. The rock showed up in our la...

To the west of my house is a curved flower garden that is lined with cedar trees. At the south end of the trees I have several lilac bushes.
Two years ago (or is it three, now) Rick and I built a few benches and one of them is sitting by my lilacs.Last year I transplanted a few lilac shoots, making a semi-circle around the bench, creating a little retreat area.
Also, to the right of the bench in the photo, there is an angel statue nestled in under the branches of the lilacs. Behind the...
