Standard garden hoses, while useful, have presented some logistical problems. Until the water line was extended, I had to use three or four 100’ hoses to get where I wanted to go. The water pressure I have is rather high and has a tendency to blow hoses out, even the ...

Here are a few of the flowers in my garden:
I grew a bunch of beautiful sunflowers by complete accident…There were some left-over seeds from the chickie feed in our compost which we spread on the potato garden and we ended up with a beautiful sunflower garden.
Crocus are one of my favourite flowers…they introduce spring.
Bright orange lilies shure light up a dark corner of the garden.
Not a flower but just as bright is my Coral Reef Sedum growing in my ...

Fruit Bushes (Thus Far)
Red Currant: Two bushes. One bush was here when we moved in over 25 years ago. It is huge and is covered in berries each year. The second bush is about 5 years old and also provides a lot of fruit. We’ve never done much with these bushes except prop up the branches.
Raspberries: We have two rows of canes, both planted about 3 years ago. Last year we had an abundance of fruit in the fall as well.
Rhubarb: not a bush but since it com...

March 2, 2008I am enjoying Catspaw’s journal of his seeds and I thought it would be nice to list what I am growing so I can go back to this next year. Whether I keep it up and refer back to it is another issue all together but I won’t know unless I try. So here goes.
Fruit & Nut Trees (Thus Far)
Apple: dwarf apple tree. “Deb…” something or other. Purchased because of the name. VERY delicious apple. Last year Rick did a big pruning job on it and it was...

Seed journal 2008 – Appendix B
Here is the next installment of the seed journal. Things not listed are the items that have already been planted. These items include the other fruit trees we’ve had for a couple of years. It also includes a number of items that we’ve seed banked from previous years. Descriptions are taken directly from Jung Seed Co. and have been edited for content, format, and grammar.
