Today has been a quite busy day. Hubby and I headed up to our Farmer’s Market early this morning. Grabbed a cup of yummie coffee and strolled around the Market checking out all the flowers. I bought Wave Petunias in two colors, Periwinkles, Gerbera Daisies, and a white flowered ground cover that I cannot remember the name of. Oh yah, and a basket of Million Bells Petunias for my old White Spindle Back Chair.
After we got home and we (okay, hubby) unloaded the truck with all “my...

It has been really dry here in Central Florida. No rain for five weeks now. It’s crazy when other parts of the country are flooding, (i.e. Arkansas) They are teasing us with a thunderstorm Monday.
Mowing our yard, a.k.a. weeds, is out as it just raises a dirty, gritty dust. So I have been doing a little judicious pruning.
The back corner of our lot has been neglected for years. It has helped buffer some of the noise from our neighbor’s ongoing party (three years now), but I ...

Well, been gone for a while due to the flu. Really knocked me out and ended up getting stuck in my lungs which made it painful and difficult to breathe.
Anyway, thought I’d post what’s in bloom in the yard. I’ve also got another unknown I’ll be posting in a bit to see if anyone can figure it out.
These are the Irises that my wife doesn’t like.. She’d said to trash them but me, I like Irises so I kept them, in a way.
I tossed them into a depression ...

Getting close to the end of my stock of pots, today I’m planting gerbera daisy’s and zinnia’s these will go in my sunny spots, they make for great splash of color. I have my other helper today this is flossie, she’s not much for gardening but she does enjoy my bags of planting soil.

This magnolia (grandiflora?) is about five years old. My wife started it from seed. Quite a process. She took the fruit from the tree in September, removed the pulpy red outer layer to reveal the seed kernels. She then put them in a ziploc with some moist potting soil and stored it in the fridge until the end of January when she potted them. Only 3 out 12 sprouted. They grow very slowly.
In researching the project we found that the seed kernels may take up to 18 months to sprout (if a...

My columbines are starting to bloom it’s one of my favorite flowers it’s a shame it doesn’t last longer. In another week or two they should all be in bloom, can’t wait to get photos of the rest. I’m also trying a new plant the called Moses in the cradle I have three of them planted in pots and I’m interested to see how well they do.

Well today I got to working on the second bench.
I assembled it and brought it over to the deck and trimmed up the straight bench and the curved bench so that they fit in the corner of the deck.
I then went and got the trim router with a 1/4” roundover (got to make it kid friendly) and a sander to get rid of the saw marks, saw cuts and roundover where the trim router won’t reach.
I did the edges on both surfaces of the benches and sanded both of them.
Here are ...

Last year, I purchased a pawpaw tree and a nannyberry. Two weeks after planting, one of them was attached by the lawnmower. I couldn’t remember which tree was which and so I’ve lost one but don’t know which one.
Today I went back to my tree nursery and purchased a second Nannyberry. Of the two it is the nannyberry that I really don’t want to lose. So I either now have 2 nannyberries and no pawpaws or I have, once again, one pawpaw and one nannyberry. ...
