Just Blooming #4: Un-named Seedling + Verify Unknown Shrub Plz

210 days ago by Scott Hildenbrand | 7 comments »

Fresh blooming today is a seedling that was deemed not worth sale and was never named / patented. Personally I think it’s rather pretty.. Also blooming today is the unknown shrub I’d posted a while back.. I really don’t think it’s honeysuckle.. It’s not like any I’d ever seen, and the flowers are all wrong. If someone can put a name to it so that it can be verified, that would be great.

Planting & Landscaping #11: Front Flower Bed Begins

212 days ago by Scott Hildenbrand | 16 comments »

Well, I finally got started on the flower bed under the bedroom window. I dug out in front of the basement window and installed a paver surround and back filled with rocks. I just used plain Jane drainage rocks, I don’t like the fancy smancy stone. Here you can see a wider shot. I tilled all the ground up and gave it a slight grading away from the house. Then I laid down cardboard for the mulch bed and mulched to either side of the window. I’d have mulched it all, but, that...

Today in bloom, is nothing less, than a plain old ditch lily. These will be finding their way OUT of the flowerbeds, before they take over and kill us all. These are the new addition clumps that we picked up today, plus some Hosta and one of those plants which has huge, sticky flowers.. The name escapes me at this moment. Clump of iced jade Background, peaches and cream, plus some others. And more.. And more….... The Hosta I picked up. On...

My Garden 2008-- the beginning #4: The beginning #4

213 days ago by Bob | 12 comments »

Due to time restraints this year my garden is not getting as much care as it should.I had to move the sq foots to build my workshop so some plants didn’t get enough TLCHowever my bananna potatoes did get into the containers I scrounged and are now peaking thru the compost / soil. I will give the 4 plants a couple more days to leaf out and add more mix to the drum. That should net me some nice suppers in august. Eventually they will be up to the rim with a humongous root system ...
