Our Pond #8: Another Benefit to the Pond

21 days ago by MsDebbieP | 22 comments »

October 30, 2008 This morning, I looked out to the pond to find it covered in a layer of ice. Brr. it’s cold. It’s interesting to watch our two fish continuing on about their day under the ice… the fun part, however, was just now (noon-ish) watching half a dozen sparrows bathing in the little corner of the pond that was open water. I wish I could have gotten a picture.

Fountains #1: Coffee&Tea Pot Fountain

22 days ago by Ladymoonflower | 14 comments »

I had this Idea in my head for years and finally put it to soil. I wanted to create a fountain that was made with over flowing coffee and tea pots. The pots were salvaged from a junk store by me. I dug a tub into the ground for the three pumps (one for each pot because of thier height) I ran tubing up the galvanized pipes and sealed the pots with pond sealant. Since these pictures were taken I have planted the garden area with buterfly bush, kousa dogwood, iris, mums, lily of the valley, ...

Seasons

23 days ago by dini | 10 comments »

10-28-08Well, sitting here trying to catch up, suddenly I heard a rattling sound against the window beside me. Looking up, I developed an instant and massive chill (not all that difficult, I admit, considering the head cold I’ve been fighting for TEN razzlefratchin days). It was sleeting, hard, out there ( and me with no batteries for my camera). :( The sleet didn’t last long, though it was comical watching the squirrel at the feeder using his tail as an umbrella. Unfortunately, i...

Garden Maintenance #8: Overwintering Pots

23 days ago by Scott Hildenbrand | 3 comments »

Well, it’s no where near as pretty, or well laid out as what I wanted to do.. But then again it’s not like the basement is that pretty right now anyway. Now, once I redo the basement I’ll surely set something better up. At any rate, this is my holding spot for all the potted plants.. My plan is to hang at least 2 4’ dual bulb grow lights up and to have them on a timer so that the plants get a little better light. I’ve also got aquatic plants I NEED to get i...
